Toy Story 3

Matthew went to his first movie today, he saw Toy Story 3 of course. He sat through the whole movie and seemed to really like it. He only said one or two words during the movie. There were a couple of times where he grabbed Grant or my arm but otherwise he was totally amused. The fact that he was watching all his favorite characters I'm sure helped keep his attention, that and popcorn.
I took this fast before anyone else came in so I didn't look like a nut for taking pictures in a movie theater, but it was his first movie.

We could barely tear him away from the popcorn at first. I asked if he wanted a drink and all he said was, "no eating popcorn."

Stanley Cup celebration continues

For Father's Day Barbie got Grant his own Stanley Cup bank so we had some fun playing around with it. This joins the rank of many Stanley Cup gifts Grant received including a book Matthew picked out for him and a pilsner cup from my mom and dad. I guess we know what he likes.

Muahhhhhhhhhhhhh!

Grant's Father's Day Present

For Father's Day this year Matthew made Grant a plate he can put his wallet and things on. He had so much fun making it and did it pretty much all by himself. He wanted to make everything in the store had we let him.
Keeping his colors separate.

Pirate's Cove-Father's Day Celebration

For Father's Day Matthew and I took Grant to Pirate's Cove. It was really more for Matthew I guess, but Grant got to go on most of the rides with him and we had a blast watching Matthew have so much fun. He rode the train at least 6 times, went down the big slide with Daddy at least 6 times, jumped in the jumping house 3 times, went on paddle boats twice, and more. It was a great day, a little hotter than we thought though.

Matthew cooling off under the water sprays. He made "friends" with the little boy behind him on the train. We say friends because he actually stayed in the train when the boy got on and smiled at him. When he went on the first time as engineer another boy got on and he cried and sat in one of the other cars instead.

We had to convince him to try this slide and after a little argument he agreed and then we couldn't get him off. He kept saying one more time.

He wanted to go on these paddle boats, and we did explain to him he would be by himself. The first time he kind of just sat there and attempted a little to move it. He actually managed to get himself near a wall and wanted to get out there, luckily the workers stand right in the water.

He went on a second time and was actually pretty good at moving himself around.

You move it with your arms and a few times he went in circles because he only used one side but overall we were pretty impressed.

Big Boy Bed

This past weekend Matthew got his big boy bed. It was a little hard for me because he's not a little baby in his crib anymore but I'm handling it well. As Grant reminded me another little baby will be in there soon enough. The first night all three of us slept in it Grant and Matthew "upstairs" and I slept "downstairs." The cats all really like it, all 3 of them slept with us as well.
He has bunk beds with a dresser underneath as well as drawers on the stairs leading up. It has good storage for toys, which as you all know we need.

His room is still a mix of big boy and baby, so it was acceptable to me.

Yeah Blackhawks!!!!!

There was a lot of celebrating in our house yesterday as you can imagine. Matthew watched bits and pieces of the game. At the end if you asked him who won he would say the Blackhawks. He didn't want to put the jersey on that night, yet the next day when it was really hot out he had to wear it over his clothes. I guess we picked a good year to go to the Blackhawks Convention. Maybe we'll get to see the Stanley Cup.

Is it good?

Matthew got ice cream the other day and by the look on his face you would think he hated it. Yet, he did finish all of it. I guess the cold just got him every time.
If I open really wide maybe I won't taste the coldness.

Not so sure about this.

I can get through this.

This is fun stuff.

Zoo

Matthew loves to take these kinds of pictures, where he pokes his head through. On this one he apparently got quite excited and is halfway through it.

He likes ducks and geese. It was hard to get him away from them today.

We liked this sign that they placed by the hawk.

When he was 6 months old he went by this giant turtle with no problem. Now the thing scares him.

Matthew the gorilla.

Fun in the Sun!

Splashing in the water on his sand/water table. I have to get a watering can to add water to the table each time we use it. Matthew likes to help pour it in.

He finally understood how to use the bubble gun today. He kept turning it upside down before.

He loves bubbles in his face.

Bubbles are a lot of fun when you really think about it.

He liked trying to catch them in his mouth.
